    Michelin Guide Nordic Countries

Food lovers unite, as gastronomy and culinary experiences are celebrated in Tivoli Gardens. Enjoy music, cocktails, and samples of New Nordic cuisine. Follow along with this year’s distribution of stars, when the Nordic Michelin Guide Ceremony is streamed on the open air stage’s screen at 18.00. Get the full program on Tivoli’s website.

    Wednesday, June 3rd

    Distortion

On Wednesday, Copenhagen’s annual street party, Distortion, kicks off on City Hall Square. Attracting nearly 300,000 people, this event is hugely popular. The location of the parties changes every evening, moving to Vesterbro on Thursday (4/6), and Refshaleøen on Friday and Saturday (5/6-6/6). For a detailed schedule, see Distortion’s website.

    Thursday, June 4th

    Child distortion

Distortion moves to Vesterbro on Thursday and starts off with Children’s Distortion at Enghaveparken from 14.00-19.00. Expect music, art, food, and other fun activities suitable for children age 3 and up. For more information, see Distortion’s official website.

    Northside

While Copenhagen is enjoying its biggest street party of the year, Aarhus is also getting ready for a festive weekend as Northside kicks off on Thursday. With big names on the program (Big Thief, Empire of the Sun, APHACA, Thomas Helmig, and Tobias Rahim, to name a few), thousands of people seem to have a great weekend lined up. For the full program and line-up, visit Northside’s official site.

    Friday, June 5th

    Constitution Day

Friday is Denmark’s Constitution Day – also known as Grundlovsdag. Although Danes are notoriously boring when it comes to celebrating their national day, compared to their Scandinavian neighbours, there are still some fun events to look forward to. Although this isn’t a country-wide bank holiday, most shops and schools plan to be closed.

    Constitutional meetings

Constitution Day is an occasion for political parties to put together Constitutional meetings: events that celebrate the Danish Constitution Day.

    Visit the Danish Parliament

Explore Christiansborg, as the Parliament opens its doors to the public, in celebration of the Danish Constitution Day. See The Parliament Hall (the parliamentary hall) in person, take part in a kid-friendly game of Bingo, and enjoy a guided tour of the most famous portraits in Christiansborg. For full details, head over to The website of the Danish Parliament.

Women’s World Cup Football Qualifier: Denmark vs. Sweden

Not into politics? No problem! Watch Denmark play Sweden in the qualifying match which takes place in Odense, or stream live via DR1.

    Father’s Day

Last but not least, Friday is Denmark’s father’s day (known as father’s day in Danish).

Saturday and Sunday, June 6th and 7th

    Tivoli Fireworks Display

As it is now officially June, Tivoli is kicking off its weekly Saturday evening fireworks display. This year’s theme is an ode to the much loved Danish film franchise, the Olsen gang. Enjoy the beautiful display every Saturday this summer at 23.30.

    Around Zealand

For the 79th year, Helsingør Sailing Club invites sailing enthusiasts to take part in, or simply to witness “Sjælland Rundt”: a journey which takes sailors on a trip around Zealand. Saturday is a celebration, where food, talks, model boat racing, and music can be enjoyed. The journey itself kicks off on Sunday at 10am, just north of Kronborg. It’s a packed programme, so for more information, head to Sjælland Rundt’s official website.

Bridgefest – Opening ceremony for the New Queen Margrethe II Bridge

Participate in the official opening ceremony for the new bridge connecting Zealand and Falster – the New Queen Margrethe II’s Bridge. Witness the Queen’s last drive across the old bridge, join the 4km walk across the bridge on Saturday, or pick up the pace and run the same route on Sunday.
