Free National Movement (FNM) Garden Hills candidate Rick Fox said that his decision to run in the upcoming election was to fight back against “political bullies”.
Fox made the remarks while at the party’s first rally in southern New Providence on Tuesday night.
“I am running in this election because the only way to deal with bullies is to punch them in the mouth,” he said to a crowd of FNM supporters.
He added, “Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting one of our most notorious bullies, one of our top bullies in our country.
“He had some words for me. A warning he said. Can you believe that? He brought me a warning.
“He said, ‘You know Rick, if you’re trying to do business here in The Bahamas, you know you need to come talk to me first, right?’
“That’s how that go, right? That’s what he was telling me.”
“My dad once told me pigs get fat, but hogs get slaughtered. We got a hog problem in our country.”
The crowd erupted into cheers.
Fox said that he will fight for the people of Garden Hills.
“It appears we have reached the stage in our election cycle where I’m supposed to shut up,” he said.
He said, “Well, I have some advice for the next generation over here.
“Anytime a bully tries to shut you up, you just get louder. You start fighting.”
