Today, on the Day of Motherhood and Beauty, we regret to report that the Azerbaijani administration has destroyed the “Motherhood” sculpture placed near the maternity hospital in Stepanakert.
This is not just another case of cultural loss. This is part of a consistent policy aimed at erasing memory, identity and presence, what can be described as the “erasure of the homeland”.
The image of the mother and child, as a universal symbol of life, continuity and hope, has once again become a target in a reality where culture is seen not as a value but as an obstacle.
Such actions are not only cultural vandalism, but also a clear message: to erase us from our own territory, to reshape the territory without memory and without the past.
On this day, we bow to all mothers who have borne the weight of war, loss and displacement.
And we record that the memory cannot be destroyed. It lives on in people, in speech, in culture.
