The Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office today indicted an air force officer for losing confidential documents classified as national and military secrets in a paper shredder for almost a year.
The operations officer at the Air Force Songshan Base Command, surnamed Su (蘇), was responsible for base defense and anti-airborne operations, the indictment said.
He handled and signed off on exercise operational plans in August 2024, which he was tasked with distributing to four units, although two of the papers went missing, it said.

He later found the documents, shredded, inside a paper shredder in April and May the following year, it said.
The issue came to light after an internal audit, which found discrepancies between dispatch and receipt records, it added.
The case was referred to prosecutors by the Taipei Military Police.
Prosecutors said he has been indicted on suspicion of contravening the Criminal Code of the Armed Forces (陸海空軍刑法) for negligent abandonment of military secrets, and the National Security Act (國家安全法) for negligent destruction and loss of classified national information.
