“Due to high security measures, they ran out of the office premises after ten seconds, and then left the yard with self-inflicted injuries. Relevant circumstances indicate that the organized break-in was aimed at the lawyer’s computer equipment and data storage devices, but this operation was unsuccessful, and the entire business documentation of the law office is safe, undamaged, protected at a high level, and not a single document or data was taken out of the office,” the statement reads.

From the law office Tomanović say that the police acted quickly to secure the facility and that the authorities carried out the investigation in a lawful manner, and the office made fully available to the police the extensive evidence recorded by their security infrastructure, including comprehensive video recordings of persons and events.

“The raid on the lawyer’s office is a well-known repressive matrix of the totalitarian regime’s actions towards the defenders of persons, movements and values that the regime sees as its political threat, with a clear pattern – a campaign of public insults and slander, discrimination and satanization, monitoring and eavesdropping, and then endangering and breaking into the lawyer’s premises”, according to the statement of the Tomanović office.

The attorney’s office calls on the competent authorities to deal with this matter with the necessary seriousness – not only to identify the perpetrators but also the principals.

“The fact that the attempt seems to have been aimed specifically at confidential material raises questions that cannot be left unanswered and must be viewed in the light of the interests of those who are bothered by the work of the office. The independence of the legal profession is not only a privilege of lawyers; it is the cornerstone of the right that belongs to every citizen, and that is why, as in the past more than 30 years, in which we have encountered various degrees and methods of attacks and intimidation, we will continue to act at the highest legal level without fear,” the statement reads.
