The police she knows one second case of scam with fake gold jewelry in shopping establishments, with a damage close to 2,000 euros. This new affectation is added to the complaint filed by another business last week, where the defrauded amount exceeds 6,000 euros.
The facts are framed in the open research following several fraud attempts detected on Thursday and Friday in gold buying and selling businesses. According to the body, the alleged perpetrators would be part of one organized band made up of at least five non-residentswho acted separately and at different times.
The group sold tungsten jewelry plated with a layer of goldwhich allowed the pieces to pass the establishments’ first checks. In one of the affected premises they would have succeeded three operations on Thursday and a fourth on Fridaybefore those responsible became suspicious on a fifth attempt, repeated the checks and alerted the police.
Investigators continue to work to determine the full scope of the fraud and do not rule out that more affected establishments may appear.
