MG is proud to announce that European production will resume at a new facility in Galicia, Spain. This investment of approximately EUR 200 million represents an important milestone in MG’s long-term commitment to the European market and the acceleration of its “In Europe, for Europe” strategy.
The new factory will create more than 2,000 jobs across Europe and will become a strategic hub for the next phase of growth for the MG brand. The start of production is planned for 2028, with an annual capacity of up to 120,000 vehicles. The plant will bring together vehicle research and development, advanced manufacturing, key component supply and intelligent logistics operations, creating a fully connected industrial ecosystem.
This platform will significantly expand local production and procurement and strengthen the resilience, adaptability and efficiency of the European MG supply chain. At the same time, MG will deepen cooperation with leading European technology partners, research institutions and local suppliers to accelerate innovation in key areas of the future, including next-generation batteries, intelligent mobility systems and clean energy solutions.
This announcement comes at a crucial time for the European automotive industry, as the European Union’s targets for zero emissions by 2035 further accelerate the transition towards electrified mobility. Through localized production, continuous investment in research and development and a customer-centric approach, MG is strengthening its commitment to Europe and expanding the availability of advanced mobility solutions to consumers across the continent.
At the same time, MG continues to market cutting-edge technologies, including the recently introduced first mass-produced solid-state battery SolidCore and a leading portfolio of Hybrid+ and plug-in hybrid technologies. These innovations confirm the increasingly important role of MG in shaping a more sustainable, intelligent and future-oriented mobility in Europe. MG’s further investments build on strong growth in the European market. Earlier this year, the brand celebrated the delivery of its millionth vehicle in Europe.
Since returning to the UK market in 2011, MG has become one of the fastest growing automotive brands in Europe, supported by a network of more than 1,300 dealers in 34 markets. Recently, MG’s parent group marked the delivery of its 100 millionth vehicle to a global customer, confirming its size and international reach.
In recent months, MG has significantly expanded its model portfolio with the introduction of several key innovations, including the all-new MG4 EV Urban and the all-new MGS9 Plug-in Hybrid, the brand’s first seven-seat SUV offering superior versatility and roominess with three rows of seats. Building on the strong offering presented over the past year, MG also introduced the MGS5 EV, MGS6 EV and MG HS Hybrid+ models, further strengthening its presence in the electric and hybrid segment. At the forefront of innovation is the MG Cyberster, which redefines electric performance by combining the brand’s sporting tradition and iconic roadster design with state-of-the-art EV technology.
