PARAMARIBO — When receiving the policy plan of the Decent Work Alliance for people with disabilities, Naomi Esajas-Friperson, Deputy Director of the Labor Market, indicated that the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Labor (VWA) is committed to promoting labor market participation of people with disabilities. It is also committed to creating opportunities for humane work for this target group. According to Esajas-Friperson, it is very important that people with disabilities can fully participate in the labor process and therefore also in society.
The deputy director emphasized that the ministry will make extra efforts to help people with disabilities who belong to vulnerable groups within the labor market policy. Promoting equal employment opportunities and economic independence is an important starting point.

Esajas-Friperson welcomed that the alliance has proposed several interventions aimed at reducing the distance of persons with disabilities to the labor market. Special attention will be paid to removing obstacles that stand in the way of sustainable labor participation.
According to the Welfare and Labor Directorate, the presentation of the policy plan is an important step in collaboration with the Decent Work Alliance for people with disabilities. Both parties strive for an inclusive labor market in which people with disabilities have equal opportunities for participation, development and decent work. The policy plan of the Decent Work Alliance for people with disabilities was officially presented to the directorate on Tuesday by chairman Renate Wartes.
