The Davao City government will adopt a flexible work arrangement every Friday starting April 17 as part of its energy conservation measures.
In an advisory posted on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, April 15, the city government said regular office hours from Monday to Thursday will remain from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Offices whose functions can be performed remotely will shift to a work-from-home arrangement on Fridays, the advisory said.
The city government said that departments providing frontline and essential services must maintain sufficient on-site personnel to ensure uninterrupted public service.
Offices requiring continuous operations are exempt from the arrangement. These include personnel providing health and medical services, emergency response units, disaster risk reduction and management offices, and public safety and security services such as traffic management.
Other offices that require daily physical presence, including those involved in document receiving and releasing, will also continue regular operations.
The measure follows the creation of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emergency Socioeconomic Crisis Response, which was organized to address economic pressures linked to international geopolitical developments.
In its initial resolution, the task force directed all city government offices to cut fuel consumption by 15 percent.
Priority offices, particularly those involved in emergency and health services, were granted exemptions to ensure essential operations are not affected.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has prepositioned emergency vehicles, including ambulances, in strategic areas across the city to strengthen response capability while reducing fuel use.
According to CDRRMO, emergency units are now stationed in locations such as Ulas and Bajada to maintain quick response times while supporting the city’s fuel-saving efforts.
