Ulaanbaatar, April 12, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The Asian Elite Boxing Championships, jointly organized by the International Boxing Association and the Mongolian Boxing Federation, were successfully held over 11 days at the ASA Arena in Ulaanbaatar.
In this tournament, Mongolia fielded 15 male and female athletes competing on home soil, with five securing medals. Overall, the team finished with two silver and three bronze medals.
In the men’s 55 kg category, International Master Bilguunsaikhan Kharkhuu defeated opponents from the Philippines, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan, but lost in the final to Japan’s Rei Yamaguchi. In their bout, the Japanese boxer led 4:1 in the first round. During the second round, a cut opened on Yamaguchi’s eyebrow, and the judges unanimously awarded him the victory, leaving the Mongolian boxer with a silver medal.
Additionally, in the women’s events, Nomundari Enkh-Amgalan won silver in the 48 kg category, while Namuun Monkhor (60 kg) and, in the men’s division, Dalai Ganzorig (75 kg) and Bariakhaan Dorj (85 kg) each earned a bronze medal.
