The head of the entity in the region, María del Carmen Olórteguiexplained that in various voting centers the counting was prolonged due to errors in the counting, which forced the process to be repeated to ensure the correct preparation of the minutes.
“They made a mistake in counting the votes and had to count them again”detailed the official in RPP, who confirmed that the delays extended until the early hours of the day in several locations.
One of the most representative cases was recorded in the María Negron educational institutionin Trujillo, where the count ended around 9:15 a.m.being one of the last precincts to close the electoral process.
Despite this, Olórtegui highlighted that no major incidents were reported during the day. Among the isolated events, he mentioned the presence of political propaganda outside some schools, problems in voter registration and power outages in provinces such as Huamachuco and Julcán, which were quickly restored.
Likewise, he noted difficulties in supervising the process, pointing out that in some cases it was not allowed to review minutes or information posters were not posted as established.
As a consequence of the delays, the National University of Trujillo suspended its administrative work this Monday, due to the delay in the withdrawal of electoral material in its university city, one of the locations with the largest number of tables in the region.
