Voter ID Replacement Applications Reach 27,322 as St. Peter Leads with 85% Completion
ST. JOHN’S, Antigua — The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) reports that a total of 27,322 voter ID replacement applications have been processed to date, with St. Peter emerging as the leading constituency at 85% completion.
According to the Commission’s latest official report, the replacement programme has accelerated significantly in recent months, particularly in March and April 2026. March recorded 4,168 applications, while April has already reached 3,971, reflecting a sharp increase in public response ahead of the general election.
The data shows that 18,320 applications were carried over from 2025, with modest activity earlier this year—355 in January and 508 in February—before the surge in March.
St. Peter stands well ahead of other constituencies with 85% completion, followed by Barbuda at 75% and St. Philip North at 74%. St. Philip South has reached 67%, while All Saints West recorded 60%.
In contrast, several constituencies remain near or below the halfway mark. St. Mary’s North is the lowest at 48%, while St. John’s Rural West and St. John’s City East both stand at 50% and 53% respectively.
Urban constituencies in St. John’s show moderate progress, generally ranging between 50% and 56%, suggesting a more gradual uptake in densely populated areas.
The Commission’s weekly breakdown for April highlights a strong start to the month, with 1,077 applications recorded between April 1–4 and a further 2,894 between April 5–11. No figures have yet been recorded for the latter half of the month.
The figures indicate that while progress has been made, thousands of eligible voters have yet to complete the replacement process, with several constituencies still below optimal participation levels.
The ABEC continues to encourage electors to collect and update their voter identification cards as the country prepares for the upcoming general election.
