Junior athletes turned in a number of record-breaking performances at the 5th Annual Red-Line Youth Track and Field Classic, hosted at the original Thomas A. Robinson Track and Field Stadium over the weekend.
CARIFTA team member Benryco Pierre pulled off a first-place finish in the under-20 (U20) boys’ 800 meters (m), winning in 1:57.32. He erased Raywind Winder’s meet record of 1:58.12. Fast Forward’s Leviticus Levarity was second in a time of 2:04.70, and the T-Bird Flyers’ William Minors was third overall in 2:08.15.
Bahamas Speed Dynamics’ Tristan Lockhart crossed the finish line first in the under-17 (U17) boys’ 200m final. He ran 21.59 seconds to take the win. Prior to his victory, he secured the top spot from the prelims in a new meet record of 22.22 seconds, and then lowered that time to 21.59 seconds in the final. The former meet record was 22.36 seconds, set by Shevano Nixon last season.
Lockhart also experienced success in the U17 boys’ 400m final, where he ran 50.58 seconds for first place.
Swift Athletics’ Rocelis Moxey and Bahamas Speed Dynamics’ Aniah Charles both dipped under the previous meet record of 25.05 seconds in the U17 girls’ 200m final. Moxey ran 24.85 seconds for first, and Charles placed second in 25.03 seconds.
Samantha Gottshalk rounded out the top three, finishing in 26.02 seconds.
The top two finishers in the under-13 (U13) boys’ 800m went under Kaiden Taylor’s meet record of 2:34.79. Frankie Wright, representing the T-Bird Flyers, stopped the clock at 2:31.07 for the gold medal. Clinton Brown placed second in 2:33.55, and his clubmate Antonne Rolle finished third in 2:41.80.
Tianna Baker, representing Inspire Bahamas, ran 26.80 seconds to break the previous meet record of 27.15 seconds in the U13 girls’ 200m final. X-Treme Athletics’ Faith Bastian finished a few steps behind in second place in 27.17 seconds, and Red-Line Athletics’ Cai-Lily Catalyn was third in 27.80 seconds.
Leon Fernander, representing Beginners Track Club, claimed victories and set new meet records in the under-nine (U9) boys’ 200 and 400m finals. He won the 200m in 31.75 seconds, breaking the record of 32.40 seconds. Red-Line Athletics’ Dontae Jones and Al Darian placed second and third in times of 31.99 seconds and 32.72 seconds, respectively.
Fernander also took the 400m title in 1:14.16, surpassing Leslie Munnings Jr.’s meet record of 1:18.32.
Jazymyn Demeritte, representing Red-Line Athletics, held her own in the under-11 (U11) girls’ age group. She claimed victory in the 200m final in a new meet record of 29.05 seconds. She improved on her previous meet record of 29.09 seconds, set last year.
Kids Athletics’ Israel Spence and Hevynn Miller posted times of 31.15 seconds and 31.47 seconds for second and third place, respectively.
Demeritte was also victorious in the U11 girls’ 100m final, winning in 14.44 seconds.
X-Treme Athletics’ Katelyn Miller was the lone competitor in the U20 girls’ long jump event. She prevailed with a final jump of 5.27m (17’ 3-1/2”), surpassing Synia Lockhart’s meet record of 5.18m (17’).
Nevaeh Moxey, representing X-Treme Athletics, secured victory in the U17 girls’ javelin throw event. She set a new meet record of 16.74m (54’ 11”), replacing Caylee Nelson’s former mark of 12.17m (39’ 11”).
Quick Step Athletics’ Nhoreese Russell placed second with a throw of 13.90m (45’ 7”), also going over the previous meet record. Karis Collie finished third with a throw of 9.80m (32’ 2”).
Bahamas Speed Dynamics’ Charlee Fisher excelled in the U15 girls’ long jump event, soaring 4.80m (15’ 9”) for first place. Her jump exceeded Logan Johnson’s meet record of 4.58m (15’ 0-1/2”), set in 2025.
Red-Line Athletics’ Te Rae McKenzie placed second with a jump of 4.54m (14’ 10-3/4”), and Jumpers Inc.’s Denia McKinney secured third with a leap of 4.51m (14’ 9-3/4”).
Nipsey Jones, representing Team Velocity, delivered a strong performance in the U15 boys’ long jump event. He recorded a mark of 5.27m (17’ 3-1/2”) to win the event and surpass the previous meet record of 5.10m (16’ 8-3/4”), set by Kenton Sherman in 2025.
