The Czech brewery Matuška is once again among the major winners at the international World Beer Cup. At this year’s competition in the United States, the craft brewery from Broumy received two silver medals, further confirming its reputation as one of the most successful Czech microbreweries on the international stage.
Brewery Matuška (Pivovar Matuška) received two awards at this year’s World Beer Cup in Philadelphia. Its beer “Desítka” took second place in the Kellerbier/Zwickelbier category, while “Dvanáctka” won silver in the Czech-Style Pale Lager category.
Last year, the brewery had already won gold in the Kellerbier/Zwickelbier category with its beer “Broumy”. The brewery is therefore continuing its successful run and remains the only Czech brewery to have received awards at the World Beer Cup since 2012.

The World Beer Cup is regarded as one of the most important beer competitions in the world. The event is organised by the American Brewers Association, which represents small and independent breweries. Due to its international significance, the competition is often referred to as the “Oscars of the beer world” or the “Michelin Guide of beer”.
In 2026, the jury evaluated more than 8,000 beers from over 1,600 breweries across 50 countries. This year’s edition also marked the 30th anniversary of the competition.
Adam Matuška became emotional after the award ceremony: “We’ve once again achieved something that seemed impossible. Two silver medals among more than 8,500 beers – with our Desítka and Dvanáctka. Twelve years ago, we had never won anything, last year it was gold and now two silvers at once. Back then, my father and I started in a garage and didn’t even have enough money for petrol to get to Broumy. You simply must never give up.”
For the brewery from Broumy, the success is particularly remarkable: Matuška is the only Czech microbrewery to have won multiple medals at this competition over the past two decades.
The family-run Brewery was founded in 2009. Martin Matuška brewed the first batch on an Easter Monday. Today, his son Adam continues the work. The brewery combines traditional brewing methods with modern techniques and has since become one of the best-known craft breweries in the Czech Republic.
