Marian Neacșu held press statements on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the Palace of the Parliament, where he announced, together with Petrișor Peiu, the initiation of a motion of censure against the prime minister Ilia Bolojan.
The two conveyed that the document will be drafted jointly and that they count on sufficient parliamentary support for the adoption of the motion.
“Following several rounds of discussions between the leaderships of our parties, it was decided that Mr. Petrișor Peiu and I would take care of the technical part of a joint censure motion. That is why we are here today. The work we will take care of is exclusively technical.
The political approach will probably be explained during this day by the presidents of the parties. As you know, we have convened a national permanent office at 2:00 p.m. where the final decision will be made. (…) We are jointly writing a no-confidence motion, we hope it will pass. We have a plan”, said Marian Neacșu.
He stated that he is following consultations with Nicușor Dan, in order to identify a political solution after the eventual vote in Parliament.
“Consultations will take place with the Romanian president and we will find a solution,” the former said deputy.
Petrișor Peiu, the leader of the senators GOLD said: “The goal is to get to an early election.”
“The only thing that has been discussed so far is the drafting, initiation and voting of a joint motion of censure. Probably in early May. There is no pact with PSDit is currently a joint discussion and it was agreed to make a joint text on the motion in order not to risk having two emotions and it falling. Any parliamentary collaboration is welcome and, I repeat what Mr. Neacșu also said, for now we have this discussion, let’s see what happens after we finish it. We didn’t discuss governance,” Petrișor Peiu said.
