PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, May 1, CMC- Police say they have seized more than TT$36 million (One TT dollar=US$0.16 cents) in cocaine after intercepting a vehicle in Freeport in west central Trinidad, during the early hours of Thursday.

They said they seized 72 packages of cocaine following a coordinated vehicle interception exercise and that officers acting on “a hot pursuit transmission”, engaged in a pursuit that ended when the vehicle stopped abruptly at the end of the roadway.
The police said a male occupant exited the vehicle and fled into nearby bushes, evading capture despite extensive search operations and that a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of one black garbage bag and two white bags containing multiple packages of a white powdery substance resembling cocaine.
The police said that the cocaine had a total weight 77.81 kgs with a street value of TT$36.16 million.
“During the search of the vehicle, officers also discovered a wallet containing several forms of identification and official documents, which have provided strong leads into the identity of the suspect linked to the incident,” the police added.
