Volunteer Firefighters reported this May 3 about a plane crash in Santa Cruz Barillas, Huehuetenango.
According to information provided by the rescue forces, an aircraft crashed in a mountainous area of the village Amelco.
After the collision of the aircraft, the Volunteer Firefighters They indicated that they sent several units to the scene.
The rescue forces transferred two injured people to the Santa Cruz Barillas District Hospital; one of them died upon admission.
Two people died at the scene of the accident. The Firefighters indicated that the victims’ information is still being collected.
On the other hand, the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics indicated that information has been sent to the departmental delegate to verify the facts.
“The preliminary data was also transferred to the Field Technician in charge of the area.“, indicated the DGAC.
On social networks, local media have published numerous videos and images showing the destroyed aircraft, as well as the actions of the relief bodies to rescue the victims.
