Tazabek – On April 29, in the village of Panfilovskoye, Chui region, restoration work on the monument to the hero of the Second World War, Ivan Vasilyevich Panfilov, was completed. The initiative was organized by the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after B.N. Yeltsin, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Kyrgyzstan and the main contractor for the restoration are the private equity fund Central Asia Capital and the leasing.express company. The parties plan to announce the grand opening before the summer.
In the Kirghiz SSR, General Panfilov formed his division; his monument was erected in 1972 at the expense of local residents and fell into disrepair over the decades.
The monument was updated, repatinated, a protective coating was applied, and general landscaping of the territory was carried out: new lighting and benches were installed for all visitors to the square. The protective coating of the monument was restored by a specialist from Yekaterinburg, Ivan Dubrovin. Local governments have installed children’s sports infrastructure.
In the process of completion throughout the park – a complete replacement of the granite surface, expansion of the park and the installation of two Soviet howitzers (152-mm and M-30 guns) from the Second World War. The central element of the updated space will be a thematic area dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, with the planned opening of the Panfilov Museum.
According to Anton Andreevich Sobin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Central Asia Capital, it is very important to preserve and cherish historical memory. “Ivan Vasilyevich Panfilov is a Hero of the Soviet Union, whose division stopped the Germans near Moscow in November 1941, when there were less than 30 kilometers left to the city,” Sobin added.
“Major General Panfilov, as a volunteer in Turkestan, took part in the complex processes of establishing statehood in the region in the 1920s for almost six years. Three years before the start of the Great Patriotic War, he was appointed military commissar of the Kyrgyz SSR,” commented Andrei Yuryevich Stepanyuk, deputy chairman of the board of directors and shareholder of the Central Asia Capital fund, commenting on the common historical heritage.
