Yesterday, the Tolmin police were informed by the Nova Gorica Regional Information Center about the explosion of an explosive device lighter in the village of Koritnica in the Baška grapa (Tolmin municipality), in which one person was injured.
The officers of the Tolmin Police Station and the criminals of the Criminal Police Department of the Nova Gorica Police Administration, by collecting information and inspecting the scene of the incident, found that a 34-year-old man possessed and kept a copper detonator of an unknown type and manufacturer.
At around 8:37 a.m. in the basement of the residential building, he placed it in an iron vice on the work counter, and in an unknown way, the detonator was activated and subsequently exploded. The man was injured in the explosion.
In addition to the police and criminal investigators, firefighters from the PGD Grahovo ob Bača intervened on the scene, and they provided assistance to the rescuers of the emergency medical aid of ZD Tolmin in caring for the injured. After the first treatment, he was transported by military helicopter to the University Clinical Center of Ljubljana for further treatment.
The investigating judge of the district court and the district state prosecutor in Nova Gorica were also informed about the incident. Criminal investigators are investigating the case on suspicion of the criminal offense of illegal production and trafficking of weapons or explosives (according to the first paragraph of Article 307 of the Criminal Code-1).
