Reports revealed one of the strangest attempts ever put to governments IsraeliIt was represented by a request submitted by the Raelian Movement to establish what it called an “embassy.” For aliensIn Jerusalem, as it is the most appropriate location to receive the “Creators of Human Beings” according to its beliefs.
The roots of this movement go back to the 1970s, when it was founded by Frenchman Claude Forillon, known as “Rael,” claiming that he had met aliens called “Elohim,” who he said would return to Earth if a diplomatic headquarters dedicated to them was established.
According to the narrative adopted by the movement, religious texts, including the Bible, are nothing but a “misinterpretation” of the messages of these beings, which is what prompted it to insist on choosing Jerusalem specifically as the site for the construction of this complex, which was supposed to include reception facilities and a landing pad for spacecraft.

Despite the request being repeated more than once by successive Israeli governments, the authorities did not approve the project, which was considered outside the realistic and political framework. The movement also indicated that it discussed the idea of hosting the project in Lebanon, but rejected conditions related to amending its logo.
According to Ynet, the movement’s positions escalated to take a more controversial turn, as it adopted anti-Zionist rhetoric and called on Jews to leave Israel, considering that the “true Jews” are those who adopt its faith, which sparked widespread criticism and accusations of promoting conspiracy theories and anti-Semitism.

Despite the passage of decades since this attempt, the case remains one of the most strange incidents in the history of requests submitted to Israel, as religious beliefs were mixed with alien explanations, in a scene closer to science fiction than reality.
