US President Donald Trump said he could take control of Cuba “almost immediately.” The American president announced this during a speech in Florida to members of the Palm Beach Forum Club.
“Cuba has big problems,” but the United States must first finish “dealings” in Iran, Donald Trump said. “On the way back from Iran, one of our large aircraft carriers, for example USS Abraham Lincoln – the largest in the world – will come to within about 100 yards (about 90 m – Kommersant) from the shore, and they will say: “Thank you very much, we surrender,” the American president noted (quoted by Fox News).
The US administration has increased pressure on Cuba since the beginning of the year. In January, Donald Trump signed a decree on duties on goods from countries that supply oil to the island. Since then Cuba is worried energy crisis – blackouts occurred daily throughout the country for several months. At the end of March, a Russian tanker arrived on the island with a humanitarian cargo of 100 thousand tons of oil. According to Axios, on April 10, the United States and Cuba held negotiations in Havana – delegations of countries met for the first time in 10 years. Yesterday Donald Trump entered new sanctions against the Cuban leadership.
