The Maya Kuliyeva Turkmen National Conservatory is hosting the Composition and Instrumentation Department Week from April 27 to May 2.
At the opening of the Week, Department Head Kerimguly Garovov spoke about the department’s history, its achievements, and successes over the years. He also presented plans for events to be held during the Week, according to the website of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.
Within the framework of the Week, a scientific and practical conference entitled “Some Features of Teaching Composition” was held. Prominent composer and Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Suhan Tuyliev presented his monograph “The Theory of Turkmen Music” and discussed its specific features.
Composers Meret Annamuradov and People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Danatar Hydyrov spoke about their compositions. The most touching moments of the meeting were the composers’ fascinating recollections of their teachers N. Galmammedov, D. Nuryev, and A. Kuliyev. Archival recordings of musical works by Turkmen composers were also played during the meeting.
