The Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth has been consistently
implementing effective measures to protect the country’s cultural heritage and
to bring back historically valuable artifacts that have been illegally taken
abroad.
As part of this effort, a working
group led by Davaatseren B., Head of the Cultural Heritage Department of the
ministry, made an official visit to Paris, France, from April 14 to 17.
During the visit, the team focused
on several key areas and achieved the following results:
- Inspection and Documentation of
Fossils: The team conducted a detailed examination of dinosaur fossils that had been
illegally taken out of Mongolia. They assessed their preservation conditions
and completed professional documentation and registration. - Diplomatic Cooperation: Meetings were held with officials from the Embassy of Mongolia in France to
discuss legal procedures and organizational matters related to officially
receiving and transporting the fossils back to Mongolia. - Logistics Planning for
Transportation: The working group met with representatives of Grospiron, a company specializing
in international cultural heritage transport. Together, they developed a
logistics plan to safely return the invaluable fossils to Mongolia in
accordance with international standards.
This activity shows that the
Mongolian government and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth are
actively and consistently working at the international level to identify,
protect, and repatriate its cultural heritage worldwide, as well as to combat the
illegal trafficking of cultural property.
