The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) announced that it had transmitted to the Executive, on Tuesday April 28, 2026, a revised electoral budget. Developed by a technical commission set up by the CEP, this document presents two scenarios corresponding to the technical and operational options envisaged for the organization of the elections. The head of government had deemed the cost planned for the organization of the next elections, estimated at $250 million in the electoral budget, “unacceptable and absurd”. The latter was presented by the electoral institution.
