Monaco authorities are stepping up measures to tackle reckless driving and public disturbances linked to high-performance vehicles during major events in the Principality.
The Government has warned that large-scale gatherings—particularly those attracting luxury and sports cars—can lead to congestion, unsafe behaviour and breaches of road regulations. These spontaneous or loosely organised gatherings have, in the past, resulted in dangerous driving and disruptions to public order.
In response, stricter enforcement will be introduced during two key upcoming events: the Top Marques Monaco show, taking place from May 6 to 10, and the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix from June 4 to 7.
Under the reinforced measures, any driver found violating traffic laws during these periods will face immediate vehicle immobilisation for up to 120 hours—significantly longer than standard penalties. The move is aimed at deterring risky behaviour and ensuring the safety and peace of residents and visitors alike.
Officials say the crackdown reflects a broader effort to maintain Monaco’s reputation as a secure and well-regulated destination, particularly during high-profile events that draw international crowds and car enthusiasts.
