Socialist deputy Pedro Delgado Alves accused this Saturday, April 25th, the president of the Assembly of the Republic of providing “a bad service” and of caricaturing the control of transparency and functioning of institutions, thus justifying having turned his back on Aguiar-Branco at the end of his speech in the formal session of April 25th, in Parliament.
“The speech by the President of the Assembly of the Republic devalued the work that has been done over many years to guarantee transparency and the functioning of institutions, it caricatured the way transparency control works, the incompatibilities, the revolving doorssomething that is required by society as a way of giving credibility to the exercise of public functions, it mixes things that are of public interest with private interest, it did a disservice in the intervention it made today”, said the socialist deputy to the Lusa agency.
Pedro Delgado Alves said that “in solemn sessions there is normally no space for protests or similar things”, and hence he turned his back to show his displeasure.
“It is known that I have worked a lot on these issues, perhaps I take it to heart, in a more intimate way, in a way as aggressive as the President of the Assembly of the Republic did, even jokingly, which did not correspond to what the role of the President of the Assembly should be as guardian of the parliamentary institution and institutions”, he added.
