MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – Belarus’ Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin was briefed on the development of the health resorts Priozerny and Sosny in the Naroch area during his working trip to Myadel District on 24 April, the government’s press service told BelTA.
The prime minister visited the Priozerny health resort. He focused on the development of the tourism potential of the Naroch resort area. Using the Priozerny resort as an example, key areas were discussed: how to combine health recreation with active tourism and make the region even more attractive to visitors. “Myadel District has long been considered a gem thanks to its unique nature and lake landscape. But today the emphasis is placed not only on the scenery, but also on modern infrastructure,” the press service noted.
“We try to constantly evolve and not stand idle, because that is what our guests expect. Progress must be ongoing. Regions of the Russian Federation and international resorts are developing all the time, and we must keep up with the pace. Our focus is on comprehensive development: improving room comfort, enhancing dining options, and strengthening medical services, which are the main reasons why people choose our health resort. Last year, occupancy reached 94%, with 45% of our guests being foreign nationals and 55% being Belarusians. The resort operates year-round, although there is a slight seasonal variation. During the summer months, when children are on holiday, adults can bring their kids or grandkids, leading to increased occupancy. In the off-season, guests come both as families and individually, with occupancy averaging around 80-85%,” said Priozerny health resort director Sergei Nekhvyadovich.
Priozerny is also developing weekend-tour formats. “For many working people, it is difficult to find time for a 10-12-day stay. So we have developed about ten weekend programs of different types: from simple rest with meals and pool access to full packages with intensive SPA services,” the director added.
Another stop on Aleksandr Turchin’s trip was the Sosny health resort. The focus was not only on its current condition but also on its future development. Two key issues were on the agenda: the health resort’s present growth points and concrete development plans for 2026-2029.
Ahead of the resort’s 50th anniversary in 2026, a development concept has been prepared, taking into account guest needs and tourism trends. The 2025-2026 plan includes building a SPA complex and four individual lakeside cottages. Design work is nearing completion. The SPA concept envisions a two-story building directly on the lake shore, equipped with a multi-level pool (both indoor and on an all-season outdoor terrace), saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis, a snow room, various hydrotherapy installations, and SPA treatment rooms. The second floor will house a panoramic gym, fitness hall, and relaxation areas with access to an open terrace.
Plans through 2029 include creating a park area, an updated self-service mineral-water pavilion, 24/7 table-game areas, and scenic viewing platforms.
