SAN MARINO – Satisfaction with the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union and request for constant dialogue with the institutions to accompany the country in the new phase. The employers’ associations and trade union organizations of San Marino consider the agreement a historic step, capable of opening new economic and social perspectives, but underline the need to prepare for the changes.
In a joint statement released on 20 October, ANIS, OSLA, UNAS, USC and USOT, together with the trade union organizations CSdL, CDLS and USL, highlight the opportunities that the agreement can offer to the production system, businesses, workers and the entire community.
The agreement with the EU, according to the social partners, will be able to strengthen the international recognition of the Republic and encourage the attraction of new investments and business projects, thanks to a legal framework more integrated with the European one.
The challenge of implementation
Satisfaction with the result achieved is accompanied by awareness of the responsibilities linked to its implementation. The organizations underline that commitment, adequate policies and constant dialogue between institutions, economic representatives and trade unions will be necessary to address the transformations that will result from the agreement.
The shared objective is to transform European opening into a new phase of growth, economic progress, improvement of the quality of work and strengthening of social cohesion.
The social partners also recall the unity demonstrated during the years of negotiations with the European Union, expressing confidence in the country’s ability to face the coming challenges and translate the opportunities of the agreement into concrete benefits for the community.
The request: convene the Mixed Commission regularly
A central point of the press release concerns the role of the social partners in the phase following signature. Employers’ associations and trade unions, which actively participated in the Mixed Commission, ask that the body be convened regularly.
The request is aimed at ensuring a constant flow of information and consultation of economic and workers’ representatives on decisions and changes related to European integration.
