VALDRAGONE – Work has begun on the new Security Center of Valdragone, which will be located in the former Forcellini Carni building, in via Ovella 4. The project was presented during a press conference organized by the Secretariat of State for the Territory, the Environment, Agriculture, Civil Protection and Relations with the AASLP, on the occasion of the laying of the first stone.
The property has approximately 4,100 square meters of internal surface area distributed over four levels. The load-bearing structure, made mainly of prefabricated reinforced concrete, is described as massive and in good condition, with deep foundations on bored piles.
The central location and accessibility of the building are among the elements that motivated its choice for a strategic function in emergency management. According to what was illustrated by the Secretariat of State, the building is classified in class 4 for its anti-seismic characteristics and has a level 4 of fire-fighting performance.
A single location for emergency facilities
The new hub will be designed to host 96 workstations and promote coordination between the services involved in safety and emergency management. The Central Command of the Gendarmerie, the Civil Protection, the Borgo Maggiore Brigade and the Joint Forces structures will be located there.
The intervention will also make it possible to bring the property back into full state availability, reducing the costs associated with currently onerous rental contracts. Another objective is to free the Kursaal, allocating the spaces to other services and strategic projects.
The operation is part of a broader program of infrastructural interventions in the Republic, which includes the construction sites at Baldasserona, Palazzo Begni, Scala Malagola and the skating facility, as well as projects in the Castles and reclamation activities in the area.
Ciacci: “Fewer announcements, more open construction sites”
The Secretary of State Matteo Ciacci underlined the organizational and economic value of the intervention: “With the Security Hub we put those who manage the country’s emergencies under the same roof, in a safe and central state building. We recover a public property, we reduce onerous rents and we finally free the Kursaal. Fewer announcements, more open construction sites: this is how we intend to govern”.
The Secretariat of State thanked the Secretariat of State for Foreign Affairs, the Gendarmerie and its commander, General Maurizio Faraonethe Civil Protection, the Police Forces, the designers, the AASLP, the Public Administration offices, the executing company and the workers involved.
The project thus aims to recover an existing public building, with the aim of rationalizing the spaces, containing costs and improving the operational coordination of the security structures.
