The appeal of religious leaders after the meeting with President Begaj: Citizens should be heard, the parties should choose dialogue on the conflict

After today’s meeting with President Bajram Begaj, the heads of the religious communities of Albania issued a joint statement on the current situation with the protests in the capital.
In their statement, they called for the parties to choose dialogue over the conflict.
“Our appeal is for everyone: citizens to be heard, institutions to respond, justice to be guaranteed, the law to be respected and peace to be protected. The future of Albania is not built on fear, destruction and division, but on dignity, mutual trust and the will to find peaceful solutions.
We humbly appeal to all parties to choose dialogue over conflict and responsibility over escalation, placing the common good, citizens’ security and social peace above any narrow interest.”said in their statement.
Meanwhile, the Archbishop of the Albanian Orthodox Church, Joan Pelushi from the Resurrection Cathedral in Tirana, during today’s mass, said that in this situation it is necessary to make the right decisions.
“We pray that God will enlighten all those who are responsible for decisions, to make wise and mature decisions in the service of the whole country. Because Albania belongs to everyone. All those who live here are part of it and everyone has the right to participate in its construction. Therefore, we ask God to enlighten the minds to make the right decisions and we hope that God will hear the prayers of the righteous. Albania belongs to everyone”said the Archbishop. / Top Channel
