The American airline American Airlines announced this Friday the opening of a commercial route between Miami International Airport and General José Antonio Anzoátegui International Airport in Barcelona, scheduled to begin operations on January 15, 2027.
Ticket sales will be enabled on October 19 through the company’s digital channels.
The new itinerary will have three weekly frequencies structured on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The operations will be carried out using Embraer 175 aircraft equipped with a first-class cabin, Wi-Fi connectivity and power ports.
The flight will take off from Miami at 10:15 am with arrival on Venezuelan soil at 2:52 pm, while the return journey from Barcelona will depart at 3:32 pm and land at the Florida connection center at 6:19 pm, according to the schedule released by the airline.
With the incorporation of the industrial and commercial hub in eastern Venezuela, the firm will consolidate a global offer of 24 weekly frequencies to the South American country, complementing its two daily flights to the capital and the daily frequency to Maracaibo.
The commercial expansion is part of the scheme for the gradual resumption of cross-border aeronautical operations that began at the beginning of 2026, positioning the company as the only US flag operator present in the national air market.
“This new flight to our Miami hub will benefit customers by offering one-stop access to more than 100 destinations in North America,” said Stephen Neuman, senior vice president of Government Affairs at American Airlines.
The authorization of the air terminal of Barcelona strengthens the direct link between the oil and industrial axis of Anzoátegui and the logistics chains of the United States.
The reestablishment of direct air transportation in the east of the country will speed up corporate travel and the channeling of commercial supplies.
