Presto clarified what will happen to its restaurants after entering into judicial liquidation and revealed until when they will remain open

Presto spoke about the future of his restaurants after the Superintendence of Companies ordered the opening of the judicial liquidation process of Franquicias y Concesiones SAScompany that owns the brand. Through a statement addressed to its clients, workers, suppliers, franchisees and the general public, the company clarified that, for now, its points of sale will remain open and will operate normally, until further order from the designated liquidator, Mónica Alexandra Macías Sánchez.

In the document, the liquidator explained that the decision to maintain the operation seeks to preserve the productive economic unit, protect the value of the brand and its establishments, as well as support the work of the people who are part of the chain. As indicated, continuing with commercial activities can also contribute to protecting creditors, in the midst of the judicial process that society faces. In this way, the opening of the liquidation does not imply that all restaurants must close immediately.

The statement is also directed at people and companies to whom Presto owes money. The liquidator asked them to present their credits within the process, regardless of the amount of the obligation. Once the Superintendency of Companies publishes the official opening notice, creditors will have a period of 20 days to carry out this procedure. Those who do not submit their claims within the established period will be considered deferred creditors, which means that they will only be able to receive payments after the obligations of other creditors have been met.

The financial crisis that led Presto to liquidation

The communication is known after the chain failed to continue with the business reorganization process that it had begun in July 2023 to meet its financial obligations and maintain its operations. In April 2026, the Superintendence of Companies had confirmed an agreement with creditors that contemplated the payment of nearly 31,000 million pesos over six years. However, months later, the company requested the opening of judicial liquidation due to the difficulties in continuing as a going concern.

According to the information known about the case, among the factors that led to this outcome were the reduction in cash flow and delays in the payment of administration expenses. Judicial liquidation means that the process begins to focus on addressing pending obligations and managing the assets of the company, under the conditions established by the competent authority. However, the intention expressed by the liquidator is to look for an alternative that allows the commercial operation to be preserved.

In this scenario, the possibility of finding a buyer is emerging as a way to avoid the closure of establishments. The sale of the company is not guaranteed and will depend on a viable proposal being presented during the process. For now, the liquidator’s message is that the restaurants will continue to serve the public until further notice, while the corresponding actions are carried out and the value of the brand is sought to be protected.

Presto, which opened its first restaurant in Bogotá in 1981, thus faces a new chapter in a history of more than four decades in the Colombian market. As the judicial liquidation progresses, The company asked its creditors to present their claims in a timely manner and assured that it will keep interested parties informed about the development of the process. The future of your points of sale will depend on the decisions that are made and whether an alternative can be realized to preserve commercial activity.
