The elimination of political disqualifications It is part of the issues that are still discussed at the dialogue table between representatives of a sector of the opposition and Chavismo, said this Friday Paola Bautista de Alemán, advisor to the delegation of the National Assembly elected in 2015, who assured that work is still being done on the necessary mechanisms to carry out this measure.
“That point is under construction, it is in the Political Guarantees Table. The person who coordinates that table is Representative Desiree Barboza. There are several issues that are delicate and that deserve to be addressed. There is the legal issue, the Comptroller’s Law and then the exercise and application of that law. That is what is certainly under construction and that is why it is a negotiation, because the objective is clear and what it is about is to build the paths that manage to create or bring together the political will to “make that possible,” declared Alemán in an interview with Román Lozinski, broadcast by Success Circuit.
German Baptist He also referred to the indicators that would allow the results of the third round of dialogue to be evaluated. In his opinion, one of the most relevant advances would be that the renewal of the Supreme Court of Justice is developed in an effective and sustained manner, as part of a process aimed at recovering democracy.
The leader added that the negotiation must also translate into progress for the exercise of freedom of association and the functioning of political parties. He highlighted the importance of continuing discussions on political guarantees and laws that, according to him, are punitive in nature.
“I believe that if or when we have results in this matter, we will be able to say that the development of the table has been sustained over time and that if it continues at that pace we will be able to reach the desired destination,” he stated.
The statements take place in the midst of conversations between a sector of the opposition and Chavismo, in which the review of political guarantees and institutional changes are among the pending issues.
