SAN MARINO – Around 700 San Marino students will be involved in “Schools in the field – I too am Civil Protection”, the initiative organized by the Union of Civil Protection Volunteer Associations and Castle Groups. The event will start on Monday 19 October, at 9am, in the spaces in front of the Ciarulla shooting gallery, and will continue until 30 October.
The reception camp will host around 80-90 pupils every day, from primary to high school, offering them the opportunity to learn more about the organization and activities of the Civil Protection through various educational stations.
“We want to show the kids how a reception camp is set up and how it works when we are in an emergency,” he explains Pier Marino Bedettipresident of the Union, also underlining the value of the initiative as an exercise for volunteers.
Preparations began weeks ago, with the setting up of the structures and the transfer of materials and equipment from the Murata warehouse, also thanks to the collaboration with Green Power Emergency and the associations of the Marche Region.
The project was in fact born from the experience of the 14 municipal groups of Alto Montefeltro, with which the San Marino volunteers have been collaborating for four years. The objective is to raise young people’s awareness of environmental and meteorological risks and of the procedures to be adopted in emergency situations.
The Union has an organization divided into eight departments and staff trained to intervene with specialized equipment and means. In recent years, volunteers have participated in rescue operations during floods in Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, in hydrogeological emergencies in the Rimini area and in San Marino, in the evacuation of Serravalle during bomb day and in the search for missing people on Titan.
The initiative enjoys the high patronage of the Secretariats of State for the Territory, the Interior, Health, Industry and Public Education. Supporting companies include Marlù, Green Power Emergency, Novacar Service and Caffè SM.
“Their support contributes to the development of the Civil Protection system, which represents a guarantee of safety and help for all citizens,” he concludes Pier Marino Bedetti.
