VERUCCHIO – A 34-year-old Albanian citizen was found lifeless in the late evening of Wednesday 14 October in the car park of the Vision Club, in Italian territory, a few meters from the border with San Marino, in the Gualdicciolo area.
The discovery occurred around 11.30pm. A passerby noticed the man’s body lying on the asphalt, face down, and attracted the attention of a San Marino Gendarmerie patrol who was near the customs.
The health workers and the Carabinieri intervened on site, with the staff of the Rimini investigative unit. Despite resuscitation attempts, there was nothing that could be done for the 34-year-old.
The victim had facial injuries which, according to initial findings, could be compatible with a fall. However, the circumstances of his death remain to be clarified. Investigators are evaluating various hypotheses, including an illness, an accidental fall or the possible involvement of other people.
The man was not resident in the area and, according to the information that emerged, he had recently arrived in Italy with the intention of finding work as a bricklayer. The Carabinieri are reconstructing his last movements and trying to locate the place where he was staying.
To clarify the causes of death, further medical-legal investigations may be necessary, including a possible autopsy. At the moment no hypothesis is excluded.
