Today, Thursday, Prime Minister Seifi Gharib chaired a government meeting devoted to studying a number of files related to digital transformation and enhancing water security, in addition to preparing for Algeria to host the 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice.
According to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Department, the government began its session by listening to a presentation on the outcome of implementing the decisions and instructions given by the President of the Republic during the last meeting of the Council of Ministers.
The government listened to a presentation on the comprehensive service mechanism for electronic communications. In this regard, the government emphasized that this mechanism is one of the most important national strategic priorities for the postal and telecommunications sector, which aims to break the digital isolation of low-density population centers, by ensuring ideal and high-quality coverage, and enshrining the principle of equal access to networks, with full funding from the state. This mechanism also falls within the framework of complementing the efforts made by the government in the field of digital transformation.
Within the framework of a comprehensive strategic vision for water security through filtering used water and achieving the goal of exploiting 60 percent of the produced quantity, the government reviewed the progress of implementing a program to rehabilitate and develop used water filtration plants in order to increase the capabilities of exploiting produced water, especially in the agricultural sector.
This program falls within the framework of the strategic directions set by the President of the Republic aimed at enhancing national water and food security, especially by upgrading wastewater treatment, recovery and valorization, which allows for alleviating pressure on traditional water resources and ensuring their sustainable use in support of economic and social development.
On the other hand, the government reviewed the progress of the ongoing preparations for the 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, which will be hosted by Algeria.
