The People’s National Army revealed its weekly operational results for the period from 7 to 13 October 2026, which resulted in the arrest of elements supporting terrorist groups and the thwarting of attempts to smuggle significant quantities of drugs.
A statement by the Ministry of National Defense stated that, in the field of combating organized crime, joint army detachments, in coordination with various security services, arrested 47 drug dealers, thwarted attempts to bring 4 quintals and 82 kilograms of processed kif across the border with Morocco, and seized 368,937 hallucinogenic tablets during operations across various military departments.
Within the framework of the fight against terrorism, detachments of the People’s National Army arrested 7 members of support for terrorist groups, during separate operations across the national territory.
In the context of combating illegal gold prospecting, army detachments eliminated 3 illegal prospectors, and seized a firearm and various prospecting equipment from their possession.
Other detachments, in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, and In Salah, also arrested 385 people, and seized 29 vehicles, 144 electric generators, 97 hammers, and 5 metal detectors, as well as quantities of gold ore mixture, stones, and equipment used in illegal exploration.
In separate operations, army units arrested 11 people and seized 4 hunting rifles and 20,980 liters of fuel.
