Qatar’s vision of resilience, responsible leadership

As Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the State of Qatar, I warmly welcome and highly commend the thoughtful and forward-looking address delivered by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, at the opening of the 55th annual session of the Shura Council. His Highness’s speech reflects the wisdom of Qatar’s leadership, the strength of its national institutions, and its unwavering commitment to the welfare of its people, regional stability, and international peace.
The address stands out for its clarity of vision, its honest assessment of regional and economic challenges, and its confidence in Qatar’s ability to emerge from the current regional crisis stronger and more resilient. I particularly appreciate His Highness’s emphasis on resilience, preparedness, and national solidarity. Qatar’s response to recent challenges demonstrates the importance of capable institutions, professional armed forces, effective security agencies, and a united society. The recognition extended to citizens and residents alike is a powerful reminder that a nation’s strength rests not only on its resources but also on the trust, cooperation, and shared sense of responsibility of its people.
His Highness’s measured approach to economic management is equally commendable. Despite disruptions affecting the energy sector and international markets, Qatar has maintained essential services, protected development priorities, and continued to pursue economic diversification. The emphasis on fiscal discipline, private-sector participation, investment, digital transformation, and human capital development reflects a pragmatic understanding that sustainable prosperity depends on innovation, sound governance, and long-term planning. Qatar’s determination to turn present challenges into opportunities for structural reform deserves recognition and respect.
As a close friend and strategic partner of Qatar, Pakistan welcomes this vision of progress and stability. Our two countries share longstanding bonds of brotherhood, mutual respect, and cooperation. Pakistan greatly values Qatar’s constructive international role, its economic achievements, and its consistent efforts to promote dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes. We remain confident that the enduring partnership between Pakistan and Qatar will continue to expand across trade, investment, energy, education, security and people-to-people exchanges.
His Highness’s reaffirmation of Qatar’s commitment to diplomacy while firmly upholding its sovereignty is particularly significant. Dialogue and negotiation are essential instruments for preventing escalation, resolving differences, and preserving regional peace.
The call for stronger cooperation among the Gulf Cooperation Council states and for safeguarding maritime navigation, energy supplies, and critical infrastructure reflects an understanding that security in our interconnected world is a shared responsibility.
I also commend His Highness’s principled position on Palestine and his emphasis on accountability, international law, and the protection of civilian lives. Pakistan shares Qatar’s deep concern for the suffering of the Palestinian people and supports a just and lasting resolution of the Palestinian question in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions and international law. We equally support peaceful political solutions to conflicts across the region that preserve sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the legitimate aspirations of affected peoples.
