SAN MARINO – Pro San Marino and the Socialist Party support the “Referendum Day” initiative promoted by the Heads of Family and invite citizens to participate in the event scheduled for Friday 23 October at the Sala Montelupo in Domagnano.
The three groups are carrying out a discussion on the legislation approved in recent years and on domestic and foreign policy choices, evaluating their effects on San Marino citizens.
From the discussion emerged the desire to protect the identity, sovereignty and neutrality of the Republic of San Marino, as well as strengthening the instruments of direct democracy, starting with the referendum.
According to the three groups, some interpretations and applications of the rules would have made the exercise of the referendum right more difficult, limiting its democratic effectiveness and popular participation.
In support of the initiative, Pro San Marino and the Socialist Party recall the importance of citizens’ right to be informed and to express their voice in the public debate.
