A coordination meeting on collecting livestock data in Yangon Region was held at the meeting hall of the Yangon Region Government Office on 8 October.
Yangon Region Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and Chairman of the Yangon Region Animal Data Collection Supervision Committee Dr Htoo Maung stated that although the national livestock census is scheduled to be conducted in 2028, the animal data collection in Yangon Region would be carried out in December 2026 under the guidance of the President. Ward and village administrators, together with chairpersons of district management and administration committees, will supervise the process and cooperate with the relevant general administration departments to ensure accurate data collection.
Secretary of the Region-level Animal Data Collection Supervision Committee and Director of the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department Dr Aung Myint Han said the data collection would be conducted to support the development and effective implementation of livestock development projects that contribute to the national economy and animal health programmes based on accurate livestock data. The data collection will be conducted from December among 1,246,967 households in 2,525 wards and villages across eight districts and 21 townships where livestock are raised.
Livestock data collection teams have been formed at the township level. Chairpersons of the relevant district administration and administrative committees and officials from related departments will provide necessary assistance in the data collection process, including the use of livestock data collection forms.
Finally, Minister Dr Htoo Maung coordinated with officials from the relevant departments to ensure the successful completion of the livestock data collection. — Nyein Thu/MKKS
