Mexico City/There are no detainees for the murder of Cuban Juan “N”, they confirmed to 14ymedio the authorities of the state of Quintana Roo. The approximately 30-year-old man was shot this Saturday by two men who “apparently were following him on a motorcycle and when they saw the opportunity, they shot him,” confirmed an officer who requested anonymity.
One of the lines of investigation is that it is a settling of accounts. A call to 911 alerted about several shots fired on Talleres Avenue, in Region 101 of the municipality of Benito Juárez. Eight kilometers from Las Palapas Park, where at the beginning of this month the message appeared on a fence: “Cubans who do not respect Mexico get out.”
The authorities reject that this murder is related to any campaign of xenophobia towards the community. “The video cameras of the Command, Control, Computing, Communications and Citizen Contact Center (C5) in the area are being reviewed to try to locate those responsible,” said the officer.
According to police, seven shell casings were found at the scene. “It was a direct attack,” said the uniformed man. “So far no one has come forward to claim the body.” The victim has several tattoos and “it is being verified whether he was legally in the country.”
A few days ago, officer Enrique García acknowledged that there are cases of extortion, drug sales, prostitution and home looting.
A few days ago the officer Enrique Garciahe acknowledged in a conversation with 14ymedio that there are cases of extortion, drug sales, prostitution and some attempts to loot homes, but that these “are from a small group focused on the area of Little Havana.”
At the end of September, two people were arrested for the shooting death of a stomatologist in the parking lot of a shopping plaza on Tulum Avenue, near Supermanzana 2, in the municipality of Benito Juárez. The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo points to Yael as the material author of the crime and the Cuban Jordan as the person in charge of monitoring the doctor’s movements.
According to state prosecutor Raciel López Salazar, the migrant from the Island was monitoring the victim. Jordan reported the time of the professional’s arrival at his office, the people who entered the place, and the time he left the place.
This allowed the murderer to prepare the murder, even going to the doctor to have his teeth cleaned, “this with the purpose of identifying his target.” On the day of the attack, López Salazar explained, “Yael approached the dentist and shot him seven times. Then he left the scene.”
According to authorities, the motive for the crime was passionate, so other involvement has not been ruled out.
Yordan faces charges as an accessory to murder, for which he could spend up to 25 years in prison.
