The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has faced a series of criticisms from citizens on social networks. In comments on his Facebook page, Democrats raise questions about his relationship with the new American ambassador, oppose closed lists, demand primaries for local elections and express dissatisfaction with the way the opposition is run.
Some of them accuse him of holding the chairs, while others express their disappointment in the treatment of the Democrats who, according to them, have contributed over the years to the party, but have been left without benefits.
The issue of the meeting with the American ambassador was raised by two citizens, who ask Berisha to clarify whether he will hold a meeting with the American diplomat, since the leader of the Democratic Party has claimed that “non grata” has been removed from him.
“Hello, Dr. Berisha! As a democrat, I wanted to know if Sali Berisha will go to meet the American ambassador or if the ambassador will come to meet you at the PD headquarters?”, writes one of the commentators.
Another democrat, persecuted by the communist regime, demands a direct answer from the leader of the opposition.
“Sali, I am a democrat and persecuted by the then KP. Direct questions and not evasive answers! Why don’t you meet the American ambassador?”, he writes.
Another commentator opposes the closed-list system, accusing political leaders of adopting an electoral code that, he says, prevents rotation and does not give citizens the opportunity to directly elect their representatives.
“With that electoral code that you have for closed lists, you never have to take power. You approved it together so as not to have rotation. Deputies must come from the people’s vote, not from those you close in the lists. You have taken all Albanians by the neck. Therefore, go back to work for Albanians, because you only think about your seats”, says the citizen.
Another citizen asks Berisha if the Democratic Party will hold primaries for the selection of candidates in the local elections. He also wants to know if the lists of people he considers close to Prime Minister Edi Rama will be cleared.
“Doctor, I greet you! The local elections are approaching. Will there be primaries for the selection of candidates? If so, will the lists be cleared of those pseudo-democrats who entered Rama’s bed?”, the commentator asks.
Criticism of the opposition leadership continues in another comment, where a citizen expresses tiredness from political talks and dissatisfaction with the progress of 36 years. He mentions the position of the DP regarding the developments in Rrjoll and Zvërnec, claiming that the party has not been on the side of the citizens and that it has joined the government.
“We got tired of these talks. We are 36 years old and things are getting worse and worse. From the moment when you, as PD, did not participate in Rrjoll e Zvërnec, you should have been with the people. But the opposite happened, you joined the government. These talks have no value”, he writes.
At the end of the comment, the citizen uses strong accusations against the government and the opposition, claiming that the citizens have been left without support.
“The mafia in the government has put you in the sack and you have left the people like cattle on the fence, without pasture”, concludes his reaction.
