Four hooded men robbed on Wednesday morning between 250 and 260 cartons of tobacco in the establishment Caves Manacor, in the Tarter. The stolen material would have a value between 10,000 and 11,000 eurosaccording to sources close to the premises. The events took place between three and four in the morning, even though the thieves were prowling the area half an hour before the robbery. At 3.02 hours the alarm went off and a worker of the establishment moved to the premises.
When the employee entered the store, the criminals were still on the second floor. On hearing that someone had accessed the premises, the four assailants ran away and managed to leave the place before being caught red handed. The fact that the worker arrived only a few minutes after the alarm went off meant that the thieves were still inside the establishment when he entered. on the runthe assailants are they left inside the store a bag containing approximately fifty cartons of tobacco. If they hadn’t had this mishap, they could have taken away nearly three hundred cartons.

The police arrived at the scene of the facts fifteen minutes after the alarm was activatedbetween a quarter to three and 3.20 hoursbut the thieves had already left the area. The assailants forced the emergency door, located at the back of the establishment. The access leads to a metal staircase that connects to the car park and which the robbers used to access and leave the site. To escape, the thieves used two vehicles: one black passenger car and a white van type Renault Kangoo. The first one was left in the parking lot, in an area that is currently under construction, while the van was parked at the main entrance to the establishment.

According to the sources consulted by diarythe thieves knew what they were doing. There was no theft of money, they did not touch the record player or other productsthey went straight to the tobacco area. The assailants took away, mainly, cartons of Marlboro i Philip Morrispacked with ten packages each.
The emergency door has been damaged and will need to be replaced. The robbers were dressed in hooded sweatshirts, making it difficult to personally identify them. At the moment, it has not been possible to identify either the license plates or the models of the vehicles they used for the operation. According to sources familiar with the facts, the establishment had not suffered any theft during the past seven years.

Financial losses from theft and material damage, such as that of the emergency door, are covered by the premises’ insurance. The police investigation remains open to determine the identity of the four perpetrators and reconstruct how the robbery took place since the thieves entered the premises and quickly fled.
Officers were able to review the scene and security camera footagewhich would have recorded part of the movements of the assailants.
