Delcy Rodríguez assures that Venezuela is negotiating 44 new oil agreements

The president in charge of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, assured this Thursday that the government is maintaining negotiations to finalize another 44 agreements linked to the oil sectorwhich would be added to the 61 agreements that, according to what was stated, had already been signed by Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa).

“In addition to the 61 agreements that (the state oil company) PDVSA has already signed, 44 are being negotiated, a total of 105 agreements (…) in less than a year,” said the president during her participation in the annual meeting of Fedecámaras.

Rodríguez did not offer details about the companies or countries involved in the new negotiations nor did he specify the conditions or the validity period of the agreements. He also reported on the existence of “18 agreements.” related to the mining sectorwithout specifying its scope.

During her speech, the official linked these agreements to the recent behavior of Venezuelan oil production. He stated that crude oil pumping has accumulated growth of “8%” this year, after the drop recorded in January, which he attributed to the United States naval “blockade” on its military deployment in the Caribbean.

Although the current level of production was not specified, the latest official figures place the indicator above 1.2 million barrels per day. Rodríguez maintained that the economic effects of industry recovery They will begin to be perceived more strongly in 2027.

“We are going to see the impact of oil production starting next year,” he said.

Government says it will design a mechanism so that salaries exceed GDP growth

The president in charge announced that the executive is preparing measures related to workers’ income. He said that he asked his economic team to design, starting next year, a mechanism that allows salaries to evolve above the growth of the gross domestic product (GDP).

The objective, he said, is that workers can receive in their income part of the results that the government hopes to obtain from the new economic agreements.

“So that workers feel the benefits that all these agreements will bring,” he said.

Rodríguez also maintained, citing projections from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), that Venezuela will maintain regional leadership in terms of economic growth for the third consecutive year.

The official affirmed that the performance of the economy remains positive despite the impact of the earthquakes of June 24. According to its estimates, the third quarter points to an expansion of 6.5%.

In his opinion, this evolution is also beginning to be reflected in other indicators, including inflation and the difference between the official and parallel exchange rates.

Rodríguez assured that the exchange gap, which in January exceeded 60%, was reduced to 11.7%. The government attributes this decrease to the recovery of economic activity and the measures adopted in recent months.
