Once the installation of the Heat Recovery Power Station (HRPS) is complete and operational, it will be capable of generating 40 megawatts of electricity. Of this, 32 megawatts will be reused within the factory, and the surplus 8 megawatts will be transmitted to the national grid.
This was stated to the staff by U Thwin Aung, deputy minister for Industry and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development, during his inspection on 2 October. The installation was jointly conducted by experts from Russia’s Tyazhpromexport Co Ltd. (TPE) and factory staff.
During the inspection, the deputy minster emphasized that the No (2) Steel Mill Project (Pinpet) is a vital national initiative, urging staff to cooperate with full capacity. Furthermore, he directed them to prepare in advance for necessary requirements for subsequent processes once the HRPS plant is installed and running, and to cooperate to solve the challenges they meet.
Efforts are continuing to swiftly install and operate the remaining HRPS and the Romelt Shop, aiming for the full operational production of the entire factory.
According to the ministry, out of the 22 workshops included in the Pinpet Project, 20 workshops have already been installed and test-run.
