Sergeant Petrina Dupigny has been officially introduced as the new Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF).
Deputy Chief of Police Jeoffrey James announced her appointment during the launch of the Missing Person Alert System on Monday, expressing confidence in her experience and ability to perform the role.
James also praised outgoing spokesperson Inspector Henderson, who carried out public relations duties alongside his responsibilities in charge of Scenes of Crime.
National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore also welcomed Dupigny’s appointment and said he was confident she would do a good job.
In her remarks, Dupigny said she was deeply honoured to take on the position.
Her presentation focused on the official flyers that will be used to circulate missing person alerts.
She explained that photographs will be “prominently displayed so members of the public could quickly identify the person being sought.”
Furthermore, the flyers will also include the person’s name, age, height, address, complexion, last-seen date and other details relevant to the search.
Dupigny said the police force’s name and the Coat of Arms would help identify official notices.
She urged residents, “to remain vigilant and promptly share information if they recognise someone featured in an active alert.”
“The initial hours following a disappearance are absolutely critical to a person’s safe return,” she said.
