SAN MARINO – From 10 to 18 October 2026 the Sala della Giunta of Castello di Borgo Maggiore will host “Coexistence”, the first solo exhibition of the San Marino artist Sofia Canducciedited by Chiara Tonti. The exhibition is organized under the patronage of the Castello di Borgo Maggiore Council, in collaboration with Rococoa and Mirko Zanotti.
The project proposes a journey through textile installations, video images and sound performances, built around the themes of memory, identity and collective bonds. The works use textile and tactile materials, often linked to a strong emotional value, inserted in a research that also addresses the internal dimension and the theme of sexuality.
The exhibition is conceived as an immersive experience, in which the works enter into a relationship with the space and with the visitors. The light installations and the frequencies of the Tibetan bells, curated by Mirko Zanottiwill accompany the journey together with video interventions and sound performances.
Sofia Canducciwho lives and works between San Marino and Urbino, studied Fashion Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino. Her research focuses on the use of textile materials through recycling practices, relating personal experiences and social issues.
“Entering Sofia’s universe means entering her interiority. The body presents itself, fragments, resurfaces in memory and finally tries to recompose itself. But what happens in the artist’s autobiographical space progressively ceases to belong only to her. In crossing the rooms, her journey inevitably becomes ours too”, comments the curator Chiara Tonti.
The inauguration is scheduled for Saturday 10 October at 5pm, with performances and a talk open to the public together with the artist and the curator. On Thursday 15 October the space will host an art therapy intervention curated by Mirko Zanottiwith free access. Saturday 18 October, final day of the exhibition, Sofia Canducci will meet visitors for a moment of discussion on the exhibition itinerary.
The exhibition will be open to visitors from 10 to 18 October, from 5pm to 8pm, with free admission.
