Dominica has welcomed the introduction of a new nonstop service by Contour Airlines between Trinidad and Tobago and the Nature Island.
Tourism Minister Denise Charles Pemberton described the development as another significant step in expanding Dominica’s regional air connectivity, with the service coming at a time when the island prepares to welcome visitors for the World Creole Music Festival.
The new route is scheduled to operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays, providing travellers with an additional and more convenient option for travel between the two destinations.
Minister Charles Pemberton said the benefits of the new service extend beyond direct travel between Trinidad and Dominica. Through Contour
Airlines’ broader network, passengers will have access to onward connections to other Caribbean destinations, further expanding Dominica’s links throughout the region and beyond.
She said improved connectivity supports regional integration by making it easier for people to travel for family commitments, education, business, events and leisure.
The Tourism Minister noted that Contour Airlines now provides connections linking Dominica with Trinidad, Puerto Rico and St.Thomas, giving residents and visitors increased flexibility when planning their journeys.
She said the new Trinidad route also creates another entry point for tourists interested in experiencing Dominica, with potential benefits for hotels, restaurants, taxi operators, tour guides, vendors, attractions and communities.
According to Charles Pemberton, the service could also encourage increased trade, investment and economic activity between Dominica and Trinidad and Tobago.
Charles Pemberton said the development forms part of the Government’s broader efforts to improve access to Dominica, strengthen regional and international transportation links and support continued growth in the tourism sector.
She expressed appreciation to Contour Airlines and the other partners involved in establishing the service, while encouraging residents of both countries to utilize and support the route. The Minister also extended an invitation to travellers from Trinidad and Tobago to visit Dominica, particularly during the upcoming World Creole Music Festival.
