According to Idrobo, this case would represent animal abuse because they are dogs that were undergoing a migration process from the United States to the country and, Due to “obvious failures” in the entry regulations on the part of their caregivers, they are abandoned at the airport.
From the Institute they assured that what worries them most is that they gave the citizens the opportunity to return to the United States to resolve the papers and they responded with a negative.
“The information that citizens gave was that, if necessary, they should be taken away and euthanized, since they were not going to return with the animals anyway.which is why it is very important for us to safeguard these lives,” added Idrobo.

The two dogs are in quarantine due to a clinical issue in the transfer process, the same reason why the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) did not allow their entry into the country.
From the Institute they do not understand why the animals could be transported from another country to Colombia without adequate documentation, without the necessary vaccines and without being dewormed.
“Here the call above all is to this cruel act towards these animals, to totally objectify them and ignore that they are sentient beings, leaving them abandoned in an airport without being clear about what was going to happen to them,” Idrobo said.

“So, due to that finding, the veterinary doctor quickly identified that “It is a false document and it tells them that without that document it is not possible to enter the animals into the country.”he assured.

The animals involved are two canines that are also puppies. One is a Pomeranian breed and the other is a mix, “like an American pitbull.”
Regarding cases similar to this abandonment, the deputy director assured that “unfortunately we have already had some cases. The last was a puppy with which a citizen went to leave the country and, in the process of verification, they told him that he had to have a rigid crate and the citizen, instead of looking for the crate, decided to go into a bathroom and leave the puppy there.
The two people are fully identified and, apparently, They will face legal proceedings for leaving their pets abandoned at the airport.
