Andorra la Vella will receive tomorrow, September 30, the torch of the Special Olympics Games Tarragona 2026. The capital will be the only stop outside Catalonia of the route of the flame before the start of the competition.
The torch will arrive at 18:00 at Plaça de la Rotonda and will continue along Avinguda Meritxell, Carrer de les Canals and Carrer Doctor Nequi until Plaça del Poble. Sportsmen, representatives of entities, volunteers and members of the communal corporation they will accompany the flame during the route.
Upon arrival at Plaça del Poble it will be done the reading of a manifesto in defense of inclusive sport. In case of adverse weather, the parliaments will move to the Center of Congresses of Andorra la Vella. The event will be free and open to everyone.
The passing of the torch through Andorra la Vella is part of the pre-Games route, which will pass through different municipalities of Catalonia. The initiative aims to bring the sporting event closer to the public and value sport as a tool for inclusion and participation.
The Special Olympics Tarragona 2026 will be held from October 9 to 12 and they will gather 1,700 athletes with intellectual disabilities from ten European countrieswho will compete in 15 disciplines. The event will also have more than 500 volunteers.
